The thing is, humans reached our modern level of development by basically forcing ourselves to go against our nature. In a polyamorous society like you propose all the "betas" and "omegas" who don't reproduce do nothing. They do not contribute in any meaningful way and "alphas" are content with the bare minimum. A huge part of the reason the West advanced so far beyond it's neighbors is because state enforced monogamy gives every single male in a society a reason to care, a stake in the larger game. Instead of doing nothing or challenging the "alphas," the "betas" were building bridges and roads, constructing forums, compiling tax codes, creating legal reforms, engineering more efficient machines to do the work for them, etc. Those Men needed to care for their monogamous wife, otherwise why would they bother to contribute? If you don't believe me, look at countries where polygamy is the norm like Saudi Arabia or most of West Africa. Those countries are violent shitholes for a reason. Of course it's not the only reason, but it is A MAJOR reason.
State enforced monogamy is the only way society passes from the agricultural to the industrial revolution; and it's likely that lower class (note: I do not include the upper class wealthy in this prediction, they intend to rule forever) will devolve into something resembling primitive agrarian societies once again if the current trend continues. Don't believe me? Go outside and take a look at the current state of infrastructure in the West. It's not as noticeable in Europe, but the West is quite literally falling apart while millions of young men sit at home playing video games and shitposting on mongolian throat singing forums; and it's only going to get worse.
