Astronomers and climatefags: what would the sky on Dune look like? I know that the color of the sky is determined by wavelength of the light coming from the sun and scattering from particles in the atmosphere. I also know that, according to the novels, Dune orbits the star Canopus which is a real F-class star with (and here are terms I do not understand at all) a U-B color index of +0.10 and B-V color index of +0.15, meaning it's in the blue-ish color range? Plus, Dune is a desert world where there are frequent sandstorms but also some calm days, but would the sky even be visible in such an environment.
I always loved the color contrast between the clear blue sky and bright yellow sands in Dune 2, but I doubt that's really what the sky on such a world would look like.
