Like everything else physics, the math doesn't add up so they add a new mysterious force to account for it. In this case, antigravity. It wouldn't really make shit different, it's just the inverse of gravity.

Depends on the implementation of the anti-grav tech. Technically, gravity itself is anti-gravity to an extend. This is why we can have things like lagrange points in space where influence of gravity between two gravitational mass cancels each other out.
