It would be significantly better if you could first become a PA and then get the M.D after a few years later if you choose to pursue it. Like the dude is already 2 years in school, let him be a doctor if he already made it this far. If not, just let him be a PA. With that way, at least the time in med school isn't wasted because they would at least be a PA after 2+3 years.

I posted the PA greentext, but not the reddit thing.
I have been a PA in cardiology for 4 years. I always offer people to help them read them in the hospital, but interns are fucking hopeless. They won’t learn anything because “he he you’re a midlevel ha ha funni.” Once an EM resident’s attending told him to ask me how to read ekgs and the resident refused and he got his ass chewed out right in front of me. It was fucking hilarious.
I don’t think people realize that a PA in a specific specialty (like cardio) will know more about that specific specialty than a resident, or even a real doctor in a different specialty would. And yes, residents are not real doctors.

Well, considering that you're young, I'd also go with hemorrhoid. A polyp that's bleeding is a bit of a "yikes" in my book. It's normal to be "fresh blood" since it's located perianal and defecating will easily make it bleed.

It's not the doctor im unsure about but just the possibility that he might be wrong. Ill have anxiety about it unless he's 100% sure it they arent polyps. I think he is going to remove them anyway my next appointment because he said they are too big to heal on their own.

Cope harder faggots. MDs get one more year of clinical training than PAs do and think it makes them gods. Interns can’t even wipe their own ass half of the time. But it doesn’t matter. NPs have full practice authority in many states already. The PA name will change from “Physician assistant” to “Physician associate” within the next two years and they will get the same practice authority. In 20 years, American doctors will be nothing but Admins in corporate run hospitals, and I fucking love it.

You’re just made because the guy that bullied you in high school probably became a PA and is now going to take your job.

While being a male PA is cool, being a male nurse is way better. You sit at the nurses station all day, listening to them gossip and bitch about one another when they’re not around. You get to know which ones are total sluts and would be up for a good time. You use the gossip information to find the slutty ones and you get to fuck nurses every weekend.
You should try chilling with the nurses sometime anon. I know you said you fuck female residents, but all of the female residents at my hospital are ugly as fuck and half of them are semi-landwhales (170ish lbs).

Do whatever you want but 30 is quite young in my opinion. 30somethings look and act a lot like 20somethings, a slightly higher portion may have kids or actual careers or whatever. I'm new to patient care though.

If you are in the US and you work in any field other than Family practice (which is the biggest cope specialty for DOs that couldn’t match to anything better for residency) you are a slave to the hospital Admins and CEOs. Sure you make 200-400k per year, but you slave away for 60+ hours a week and then have call days while they sit in a chair all day and rake in multiple millions. Any dental fags here? I got my wisdom tooth extracted (upper right) and it was complicated, the surgeon had to split it in 4 and spent some time between the x-ray and my mouth to see how to extract it without breaking my fucking maxilla (no pain btw, it was amazing).

But now, after 24 hours from surgery, it's swollen and I have no idea how much it takes for the swelling to go away, I didn't ask him that, he just told me what to NOT do in the meantime (smoking, drinking soda or hot beverages, don't exercise, etc). I took plenty of NSAIDs and I don't feel any pain, but the swelling feels extremely annoying, like it's protruding through my jaw and my right jaw looks like a balloon. The internet gives me mixed results (3 to 5 days, two weeks, etc)

You can rule out acute appendicitis, chronic not so much. You should go for another ultrasound or make a surgeon take a look at it and make sure you mention the discomfort in the area.

I think this is because people that can spend time here and make conversations have proven themselves to be not too autistic or stupid in real life which makes obssesion posting and being baited by trolls and schizos less likely.
Also most /med/ users i'd assume are generally busy so people respond to one or two posts once in a while and then go do something else. Makes everything super chill. I personally check after waking up/before sleep or while taking a shit, read the few new posts and then go about my day.
Summer is still quite bad tho like a lot of the other generals.

They are basically PAs that don’t have as much training. PAs need to have over 1200 hours of clinical training to graduate. Both PAs and NPs can prescribe meds, and depending on the state, neither of the actually need to work under the supervision of a doctor. In certain states NPs and PAs can literally run an ER or an urgent care on their own without any in-person supervision (but an MD will always “supervise” them over the phone). So if you don’t know what to do, you call the MD and if he doesn’t know what to do, he will be the one that gets sued in malpractice because you consulted him. It’s pretty based. Sometimes you can do the same with a resident.
After high school I enrolled in a 3+2 PA program. Pretty much allows me to practice medicine at the same level as a doctor, without actually having an MD degree or any of the liability that comes along in malpractice lawsuits. I work in cardio, so I am always “supervised” by an attending physician, but I see him in the morning and that’s pretty much it. In the rare occasion I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with someone, I’ll page him. Usually he doesn’t know what the fuck is going on either at this point, but since I consulted him, he gets all the blame if we fuck it up. Same would happen if I was an NP. Making $100k at 23 years old is based. But NPs need 4 years of undergrad instead of 3 like certain PA programs do.

Northern cities wise (as I am from there):

Manchester-Massive and full of thieves, Wythenshawe and Salford are alright
Liverpool- Not too much to do but lovely people and the hospitals are all decent, nightlife is good (I trained there)
Leeds- Probably the nicest one, got northyorkshire countryside on your doorstep
Sheffield- bit grim but lovely peak district just next door and well connect

because I barely studied first semester this year, even tho I summoned my inner Dr House for second semester, I still might fail by 1% in the overall score
This would mean I'd have to redo some exams just to make sure I pass and all of this while being in the summer training period.

This year has been very taxing on me physically and mentally especially. Me and my gf broke up. I fell into depression thinking I chose the wrong career path. My friend group was centered around my ex so for a while I thought I no longer had friends. Overall a shit year and all I want in life right now for it to be over. I'm way better mentally and I solved all those issues but I just want to see my name on the passed list as a confirmation that this nightmare is over.
so anyway this is why i'm stressed

Idk how Germany works when it comes to transfer residents or stuff like that but I'm pretty sure you can go there for a limited amount of time (weeks or months). Many of our doctors go to france/germany for one to six months and study/do research there but idk how it actually works.

Yep, this shit is common here too. That's why I hate the hospital life and I'd rather get a FM office or a peds private practice instead. They're usually the commie doctors that are already old as fuck and want to practice until 90 or something like that. Some experience outside will do wonders from what I've heard from other residents/attendings and who knows? If they see you're determined and work hard, they might even offer you a job.

Can't wait for my 6th year to start and see how it will be with all the corona-chan situation. Probably, for us, it will be online again since we're not allowed in the ID ward and ICU but I've got plenty of other specs to go trough too.

When it comes to emergency med, especially ambu time, think about it like this: Are you able to do that for the rest of your life?

Most of EM physicians get burned out, yes the program is flexible and it's based on a shift schedule but it's a pain in the ass when it comes to polytrauma and they need you in the ER at 3am on your day off.

I think you can volunteer in your free time at the department (Hell, even in my shithole it's possible to do that after taking a few optional courses) and see from there.
