How long would it take for a person to get around the world without a vehicle?

If it’s theoretically possible for a person to walk/swim around the planet (~25,000 miles in circumference) how long would it take? Let’s say money, food, and equipment isn’t an issue.

Let's just say 25,000 hours. You walk faster than 1 mile per hour, but swim slower than 1 mile per hour. So about 2 years and 10 months.

No, you need at least a boat from Alaska to Russia, also if you want to travel almost exactly the whole circumference then going from the most east part of South America to the most west part of Africa isn't enough; there's literally an entire ocean between the two

But what about sleep? I’m sure you’d get acclimated to walking long distance but you’d need let’s say 5 hours a day.

Good point. With 5 hours of sleep it would take about 3 years and 3 months. But that's not realistic. Let's say you walk/swim for 16 hours a day, then it would take around 4 years and 3 months.

This would be an amazing feat. Let's take this beyond the theoretical. What kind of equipment would you need to cross an ocean by swimming without freezing to death? What kind of medical issues would someone run into? Would their skin slough off? Assume they are tugging a floating raft with all their food supplies. Resting on the barge would have to count as "not in a vehicle"

That’s what I was imagining. You’d have to have to have a boat follow you and sleep on it at night. I don’t know anything about swimming equipment but some kind of badass wetsuit would probably be a necessity right?

Some people escaped the DDR by swimming for a few days straight iirc. They had wetsuits and ate chocolate but almost died.

This guy, Peter Döbler, trained for 2 years and then swam 48km to western Germany. Took him a full day or so. He had a wetsuit, swimming fins, chocolate, his doctors degree, an inflatable ring and methamphetamine with him. He made it over the border and got rescued by a private yacht. Pretty insane.
So I guess you could swim for around 50km if you swim for your life and got some swimming gear and meth.

Why risk life and limb that way, instead of just moving at normal walking speed in some sort of craft?

Then you could also bring along supplies in said craft(or crafts...would likely need a land and sea craft if not using just air craft) and use said craft to weather the elements as well.
