What kind of botfly is this that I just found alive but in the squirms of death outside my hotel room? I am allegedly in Vicksburg, MS. Indigenous species?

This is the second voodoo insect that I've seen here. Yesterday or two days ago, someone put a mutilated grasshopper on my car with its wings and legs broken so it was just pushing itself in a gross little circle leaving a trail of its guts where some other insect had eaten half of its thorax.
