Given enough time and dedication you can learn anything. Read pic related. Also read Elements of Computing Systems. Those two books are a good foundation and both quite short.

CS is pretty easy to learn. If you're not mathematically retarded, you can do the whole curriculum in a few weekends on your own.

Yeah a one off class that was optional and mainly focused on scheme, retard. It used to be a compulsory programming course, it's not anymore. The book I posted earlier is compulsory. Why do you think that is?

Programming isn't CS, but OP probably doesn't really need CS for what they want to do.
OP, do leetcode, codechef, and codeforces as soon as you are able to. Then learn test-driven development and other important things that employers look for.

No. You can learn how to program and make some gay app but you're not going to be doing computer science. There's no way you're going to learn things like cryptography, digital image processing, machine learning etc all on your own.

As with anything else, just go to your nearest major university's CS department webpage and find the course plan required for a BS. Study in that order if you are serious. Realistically though, even though many courses are prerequisites to others, you can skip around and just go back to the prereqs' textbooks when you encounter something that it is assumed that you know.

I mean if you mean programming then sure, but if you mean CS proper, it takes more than a few weekends, much less a couple of months.
It’s all fun and games until people hit novel applications of generating functions in algorithms and complexity.

actually it's the opposite. the standards for graduates have been raised.

basically there's two classes of graduates:
1. production(code monkey) / QA / management, i.e. the corporate workforce
2. cutting edge research and academia

having a practical and relevant understanding of modern computing is useful for both types.
but theory of computation is only useful for the latter.
