Is there a born neurone for every idea you have? What are the rules for something to be a neurone?

Actually, I really think, that this gated inhibition, if there's neuron for everybody is key to understand stimulation.

No, whole neural networks can represent much wider encoding capabilities than of single neuron... Like, multiple of them.

No researchers actually believe in the existence of literal grandmother neurons now. The hypothetical hierarchical neural networks that the first poster brings up have been essentially discovered and studied in the brain already. You might hear about the grandmother neuron 1) for historical reasons (old models, example of a naive model that needs to be improved, etc.) or 2) as an oversimplification when the actual underlying structure/representation isn't important for a discussion or model, or for the sake of argument
