Can someone explain why so many people in america who are not white, fall under the category white? Just because they aren’t black, asian or hispanic?

For most of American history, there were only two racial classes in law: white and colored. There were a number of Supreme Court cases that clarified which of those two categories held South Asians, Indians, Native Americans, etc.

Yeah, I'm Turkish myself and in US I had to get an Autism shot so I went to a clinic. They had a form I had to fill and one of the questions was about what race I was. I expected to write asian or mixed since cockroach wasn't on the list but when I asked someone just to make sure, they told me I was white which is weird because KARABOGA is clearly superior to wh*te dogs.
