It would have to be a question forces them to show you how they reason things out. This would have to avoid something they've already thought about or just know the answer to it. But also, this depends on them actively showing you their reasoning somehow and actually being willing to put serious thought to your question. They could just as well give you a stupid answer without thinking about it simply because they dont care - smart people say dumb stuff all the time, they just respond better to reason. Not claiming to be smart, but if a good friend asks me a hard question, I will think about it for 10 minutes if I have to to give a good answer. If you're not a good friend of mine, I will just say "I dunno" and look like a simpleton because I dont give a shit about looking smart.
>>11866374Not every intelligent person is interested in politics. Very few people are driven by things that are "important", they are driven by things they consider fun / interesting. I would say smarter people would be able recognize subtler points, no matter what topic you give them.
