We tend to think that we forget our dreams. Sometimes after waking up we are still able to remember the dreams. You could form the thesis that your brain deletes your dreams after you woke up. I say that is not the case. Sometimes you do something during the day and then some stimulus lets you remember something from your dream, something that happened in the dream and that is somehow connected to the stimulus you are experiencing.
This means that you probably cannot access your dream state memories when you are awake.
If you can remember your dreams when waking up and during the day, you feel that in your dream you are you. You have the same conscious state during the dream and during the day. That would mean the states have to be the same. If the two are the same and you can remember them from your perspective, it couldn't be a reboot with a newly formed consciousness.
