Being intelligent, and having a stupid/bizarre belief or two are surprisingly uncommon occurrences. It's easy to wind up meeting a college professor, who has a PhD (maybe two), has been doing his job for decades, and he still believes in conspiracy theories like 9/11 Truthing.
