>>11858642The only knowledge that would actually impress people if you went back in time would be history, more specifically immediate predictions of events to prove you aren't a fraud (stuff that comes true within a year or so of time travel). Trouble is, as time moves further from the past, events are deemed unimportant or are forgotten, and they leave the historical lexicon. If you were to go back 5 years you could probably predict the Superbowl final score. But how about 39 years ago? How about the death toll of Gettysburg? Battle of Agincourt? Who was Roman emperor after Claudius?
And these are pieces of knowledge that have survived. If you wanted to impress the past with your knowledge, explaining calculus or electrodynamics or an aircraft won't impress people, it would only confuse them and cause you to be seen as the resident schizo. Knowing who will win the next jousting tourney or next gladiator fight, or predicting an upcoming assassination or election or coup or war, or knowing the death date of some celebrity at the time will.
No one gives a shit about 'electricity', that wouldn't impress anyone. People are impressed by seers, so the best knowledge to bring to the past is the past (present and immediate future of the past).
