Is it true that you can understand anything much faster with enough math knowledge? Like the guy who supposedly learnt CS in 12 months in the other thread? Can you get on a level that most of CS or engineering or even physics is pretty much just like reading in the sense that you don't have to think too hard for anything because you already got the intuition for it?

Also I know that math is a very broad subject but how broad is the applied part? I mean how much time should it take to get to that level? Also which fields worth studying the most?
