>>11857253>as they should lmaoi think that just leads to more academic filler bloat. do we really want grad school to become what undergrad became, where you just did it because you could get in?
>aw anon, unironically I believe in you. You can do well in a PhD program provided you work to get some publications and good cred from professors who like you. you shouldn't lel i finished with a 3.1 gpa from a no name school, and got muh high paying industry job out of sheer luck. i wouldn't go back to school unless i was funded
i had no real intentions of going to grad school, and while i was in undergrad i really felt just annoyed that i was jumping through hoops as a distraction from entering industry. i was so nervous that i was falling behind in life because i started later than most
now that i'm here i couldn't be more bored and stressed at the same time. i just feel like i need to be working on something more interesting even though i've proven i'm too dumb and unmotivated to do so
>That being said, I don't know if you would want to do research - it takes a specific personality typei never did it so i wouldn't know what it's like. academia sounds really toxic, and i feel like i'm just interested in the usual buzzwords (HPC, ML) so it'll be oversaturated and impossible to get in or make meaningful contributions to
also i legit think i've gotten dumber from my job, working in software is wayyyyyy less challenging than actually being in school.
