Our chances of settling on distant planets are thin. Even if we did make it to Mars, if we don't discover a method of traveling above light speed, we have no real chance of reaching even a nearby solar system.

In the end, we would all have been better off being born as plants. They're essentially in the state of nirvana. Trees outlive humans by a wide margin. And they don't have to deal with emotional or existential suffering.

Plants also live off of the most direct source of energy, straight from the sun. When we consume them, we're just getting a small portion of what they gathered by themselves without any effort at all.

Are plants the true higher form of intellect? What's the point of struggling, competing, and discovering when in the end you'll have the same afterlife as a tree?
