Was it worth it? did your boss care you had to leave at specific times every week for class?

If you can demonstrate a need for a masters to continue education its one of the easier things to do. Otherwise you're just wasting money really.

Even just taking random undergrad courses that you didnt have a chance to take but want to beef up yours portfolio for your masters/ph.d does your boss normally give you shit?

i.e. if I want to take Real Analysis II or Differential Geometry because I didn't take it before graduating

Your boss probably won't give a shit and won't let you leave early for class. You essentially need to argue to him that you having this class is important to the company or that you are such a good worker you missing a few hours will won't impact your work or that you can make it up later. Since we are living in Corona times, you might even be able to keep it on the down low if you work from home a lot. But on the whole, no, your boss probably won't want you wasting company time on your hobby. You need to do that on your own time.

I will finish by saying that you should at least try to speak with your boss. Just be prepared to come up with various arguments like I suggested above. Maybe your boss is cool and lets you have a go, especially since during Corona things can be much more flexible both on the school and work side. Just don't walk in cold and make a point blank ask and expect him to be very receptive.
