What are the best sites to look for PhD positions and job openings? Europe preferably.
So far I've been using inspire and ajo, but is there anything else?

Your university should have postings advertising both types of opportunities and if you talk to your program director I’m sure they will let you know of any opportunities or who you can talk to for more leads

look at individual schools you're interested in. if you're lucky certain profs will have "looking for graduate students" on their group website. even if they don't, find the profs you want to work with the most and reach out via email to express interest/gauge whether they're taking students

theory groups often don't have size restrictions because they can literally just keep taking people, as students get their own money from TAing

but they have budget restrictions. Theory PhD have to TA for 5 years in my school since their advisors only have the money for summer RA positions. Most experimentalists stop TAing in their 2nd or 3rd year. Also, in my field, HEP, the trend is the opposite: experimentalists need the manpower and will take anyone with brains while theorists are extremely selective and intimidate the fuck out of freshmen who want to work with them.

else look up for various national research labs or graduate studies places. try to find a famous researcher with whom you agree and enjoy his fields and go help push forward his agenda

youre not going to be making 300k starting anywhere in europe tho. youll be lucky netting anything at 60k$usd, but youll have access to research equipment and a reaonsable amount of vacation days

else look at microsoft or google offices and try to find where you can apply your modelization skill to some project
