Just got the feedback for my lab report. Most of my friends scored better than I did...

I heard that around 200 apple seeds contain enough cyanide to kill yourself.
But in als seriousness now. I can't fucking stand it when someone scores better than me. It fucking crushes me when they share their marks. Doesn't matter if I scored better somewhere else. I don't hold anything against the other guys. I just beat my self up over the fact that I could've worked longer or more efficient.

I was introduced to this feeling ever since I joined Uni.

Sounds like for most of your life you were the biggest fish in a small pond. Now you've been moved into the lake for big fish. You're no longer the top fish. You're just another fish. You can always go back to the little pond, slowly shrinking over the years until you're just a bit bigger than the other fish while a new young big fish grows and overshadows you.
Or you could take advantage of the greater growth opportunities in your large lake. You'll probably never be the biggest fish in that large lake but you'll still grow there to be something much larger than you ever could have been back in the small pond where you started.

Thanks for the thorough reply anon. But academically wise I was never the biggest fish in the pond and I was always aware of that.

I think the feeling is primarily caused by the fact even though I put a shit load of work into it, it still wasn't enough. But it is what it is. Some people are able to do the same thing you do in half the time.

Who cares, in school you aren’t competing against your peers your competing against yourself, always improving and making sure that you continue to learn and improve yourself. Don’t focus on other people, just focus on yourself.
