I've seen math classified with logic as formal sciences. Wouldn't it make more sense to consider logic a subfield of math, and have math be a subfield of metaphysics? Then metaphysics underlies physical sciences, both of which in turn underly soft sciences. How would you categorize things?

Reducing mathematics to logic isn’t exactly correct imo, since while logic is a large nontrivial part of mathematical foundation, the activities and study of mathematics aren’t encompassed with just developing more logical structure, even with efforts like model theory. It’s like pointing to a book and saying literature is reducible to words or ink on paper - it’s what helps express these things, but studying non-mathematical logic and mathematics / mathematical logic are two different activities

Well to be fair, gauge theory is effectively the discovery of groupoids in fundamental physics. The notion of gauge transformation is close to synonymous to the notion isomorphism and more generally to equivalence in an (?,1)-category.
