The real question to ask would be, why haven't we done any mission to look for life DIRECTLY? All we seem to do is send instruments that can sniff the air and detect methane or look at rocks that can determine if there was liquid water there ever, whoopdie-fuck. Where are the miniature electron microscopes? Where are the soil repressurization chambers? It's almost as if they're doing their best to slowly meter out the amount of progress made on the big questions we have about Mars in order to gather as much autistic bullshit data on things that don't matter as they possibly can, as if they know that once they find life funding for future rovers will be harder to get because we'd already know there are Mars bugs.
