Absolute brainlet here. What are the mechanisms behind the "I want to do something but in the end I don't actually do it?". For example, when one thinks "I really could use going to the gym" but in the end he doesn't, why is that? Why does conscious thought doesn't immediately turn into action? Is there a reliable method to "make yourself do something?" or "make yourself want to do something?". I mean, if one thinks about doing X and then doesn't do it, what he really wanted to do was "thinking about doing X and not actually doing X." What's the method to actually do X?
