Why did it take humans so long to figure out electricity? Imagine where we would be today if you could go back in time thousands of years and show people how it works.

We don't actually know for what it was used, even if it were electroplating with "very little application" I meant that they certanly didn't power motors or lightbulbs with that. For all we know they could have used that just to make fire quickly.

it wasn't a nut cracker and it was technically was used for something. its internal resistance is super high and its voltage is really low. its a worthless battery. good luck doing anything useful with it. you can read what people actually think it was used for but definitely wasn't used as a battery.

No you couldn’t. I think the best theory about what it is is it’s to add flavor to the wine or whatever electrolyte liquid they had in there. They probably like the taste the reaction causes. Probably they had a copper cup of wine with an iron spoon and saw it made the wine taste better. So they made these batteries to get that flavor.

experimentation with electricity requires at least some materials sciences, such as the creation of conductive wires, and the discovery of metals with the correct electrical and magnetic properties.
