Stop me if I’m wrong but, if we can create self-sustaining ecosystems, why not just shoot jars of life in the closest habitable planets we know? Doesn’t hurt to try right?

chances are not that at all, protienfolding is insane, and replication is not a convergent propriety for any known structures other than ones that require an extreme amount of complicity and coincidence to exist in the first place

the odds are stacked against life existing in ways that are difficult to put into words, it is not at all a convergent thing

Look, all I’m saying is we can’t expect us to wait for signals of life. Our time here is too short to wait another million years for evolution to kick in and possibly witness equal intelligence. Even if there were, chances are we may not even see/recognize due to our own familiarities. We can’t possibly leave it to chance

Even if the odds are astronomically low, life could exist in the next system over and we'd have no way of knowing right now. People get struck by lightning twice, or win the lottery twice.
