If you translate go rank to iq percentiles my iq is 90. If alphazero has an elo of 5k, what would that be in iq? For reference 1500 elo is the 50th percentile. The top 1000 players (not included on the graph because they don't use that website), are above 2700 elo, and have higher ranks than anyone included on that site.

The whole operation of translating go ranks to iqs is completely meaningless.

Both are based of percentiles though. That means the bell curve should have an overlapping shape.

I just did the math. From 50-99 percentile in go elo is a 1,000 point jump. The same in iq is 35 point jump. Therefore every 1,000 elo points above the 50th percentile = 35 iq points.

The route to your answer:

a = (Alphazero rating minus average rating)/(Standard deviation of chess ratings)

'a' is then multiplied by the standard deviation of IQ which is 15.
Then add 100, that should be the 'IQ' rating of Alpha zero.

To find the 'Standard deviation of chess ratings,' it's the difference between the 84th percentile and the average.
