It’s feeling that despite your achievement you’ve only really convinced people superficially that you’re good, and that you believe there to be a big gap between you and your peers despite being in the same institutions / having the same status.
So yes, if you take a popsci definition for imposter syndrome then it’s fake, but the actual well studied phenomenon isn’t just “insecurity” - a lot of it had to do with social bias, self bias, self perception of success, etc..
You can look back and say “I did good” but the imposter syndrome tells you “yeah but you won’t get as far as your friends, will you?” in the face of adversity.
