Are we trapped in the Van Allen radiation belt like he warned? I know they are working on technology to pass through it, but they act like humans have never passed through before yet we sent multiple crews to the moon?

Why aren’t their radiation readings off the chart when they got back? Is there ways to “fly around” the VA belt?
