Is pimavanserin (selective 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C antagonist antipsychotic) distinct from a "serotonin reduction pill"?

That is, SSRIs fuck me up, and I really like hangovers, I am not making it up. I am interested in replicating the serotonin aspect of the hangover, that is, just fucking dumping serotonin out of my brain, shitting it back into the cell where it can't do shit.

Will pimavanserin get me there?

Your current meds are blocking certain serotonin receptors which may cause slightly increased serotonin in your system.

I have an anomalous relation with GABA/glutamate. However, I am aware that alcohol increases serotonin, and hangovers deplete serotonin as well. It's just that since I'm completely immune to headaches I don't notice the glutamate shit so much.
That I should want less serotonin is consistent with feeling better whenever I get OFF antidepressants. It's very consistent.

Also, the "hangover afterflow" some receive is more general than you imply. GABA is inhibitory; alcohol mimics GABA; hangover is essentially acute short-term GABA withdrawal. GABA was temporarily downregulated due to the alcohol, and now that the substance/effect is mostly gone by the morning, you're temporarily "sped up" because your brain was compensating for the added inhibition/"slowness" and now that added slowness is suddenly missing. This is also why drinking some alcohol at that time will remediate it, because it gets back to equilibrium.

For the record, I also get a strong hangover afterglow, and I experience really negative affects from SSRIs, too. But I don't think those two things are connected in the way you believe. And I don't think hangovers "dump serotonin out of the brain and shit it back into the cell where it can't do shit". I don't even understand what you mean by that. I'm not totally certain, but I think a high percentage of the afterglow effect likely comes down to upregulation of glutamate and dopamine signaling.

Disclaimer: Not a medfag and have no real knowledge of pharmaceuticals/neuroscience/psychiatry/whatever besides random internet shit. Could be many errors in this.

Ok, I see you do understand some of that. But, yeah, I think you're thinking about it too deeply. I don't think trying to downregulate/antagonize/reuptake/whatever serotonin would give you the feeling and effects that you like from hangovers.

I wouldn't recommend trying to mess with serotonin too much. I believe serotonin is more tricky and sensitive to modulate than many other neurotransmitters, and it's probably really easy to mess things up in a way that would take a while to return to baseline. I think you should just avoid anything that ostensibly releases, upregulates, or downregulates it (SSRIs, 5-HTP, anti-psychotics, whatever).

I guess what I really wish was there was a selective serotonin reuptake agonist (and I know that the transporter does not have agonists/antagonists, only inhibitors). I seriously consider this worth a shot, the only difficulty is the obscurity of the pill, and anything closer to home would be welcome.
