Why <# of even numbers> = <# of integers>?
Why is <# of even numbers> * 2 = <# of integers> wrong?
Is there any observed evidence that former is right and latter is wrong in real world?
Or is it just a theory?

Any "trivial" subset of the natural numbers have the same cardinality as the natural numbers. Think about the equation x vs 2^x, one represents the naturals, the other represents the powers of 2 in the naturals. When you send x to infinity, both go to infinity. Of course, one reaches infinity exponentially faster, but that doesn't matter.
