Yes there are, but modern society doesn't celebrate mathematicians, scientists, and engineers so you only hear about a few and only for a while.

And no, they don't. Good thing, too, because a LOT are not white and a lot of the ones that are are Russian.

Their culture shames people who try to get ahead in life, so they're even more exhausted by the time they get that bachelor's. Dudley Weldon Woodard published 2 papers to academic journals dealing with algebraic topology (cool shit)
Gloria C. Gilmer started publishing papers on eigenfunction expansions then later moved on to "Mathematical Patterns in African American Hairstyles" (at least the early work was cool)
David Harold Blackwell (of the Rao-Blackwell Theorem, Blackwell Channel) worked in dynamic programming, game theory, and mathematical statistics (actual respect to dis nigga)

I really don't see that be the case at all. Being realistic yes but shaming no but nice assumption though. Going into Academia is a huge trial because the number of people who want to go further into it far outstrips the positions open or spots. That's not to mention the professors, who networking abilities, school politics, and financial issues/demands and finally Academia being similar to Fashion in the sheer mentality many of the people in it have towards certain groups.

I serve an high class/rich community as part of my job. Can't say I know them as a friend, maybe like 1/8 of all the people there are black or mixed, most of them are doctors or executives but I've come across some that are high ranking engineers. There was this really cool chemical engineer who was black, uber cool, he taught us some tricks about how to bend PVC pipes, at the time I literally had no experience with piping but this really knew about pvc in general. He'd always give us a tip too which was unheard of from our clients.
