So if I had a connection of gears the size of the universe could I with enough power affect a gear across the universe faster the speed of light?

Also what do you think about the idea of a foreground (high dimension) gear more accessibly connecting and affecting gears in lower dimensions?

No, but you can create a spacial denigration with an object that's multiple light years across. (This is what I suspect galaxies are; massive sections of space caught in a megastructure vortex in space-time.)

My spacial denigration comment isn't related to speed of wave in a material. The point is that an object that large physically cannot rotate, so space is forced to bend to remain relativistic. (This is also why galaxies are disk shaped; the megastructure can't be spherical because it would require too much material.)

imagine gears made of rubber or cloth. they'll be mushy and the inside will twist before the outside does, right? with gears the size of galaxies, any material will act mushy like that

Its made of dark matter, and uses the plethora of hidden dark energy to stay connected and rotate it.
Maybe if the gears were not like a wall like 2d plane but connected like a 8th dimensional shape?
