You also get the evaporative cooling effect where not only does their proportion increase through them invading new places and shitting them up (ironically what they claim to be fighting against in terms of immigrants), but the more moderate, apolitical, and reasonable people just quit because such a high percentage of discussion is worthless and delusional.
I think there's some kind of equivalency to the highly progressive encroachments into some sectors of academia. Any time you radically politicize some topic unnecessarily, everything gets completely fucked up. Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union are two big examples of this, where any science and art perceived as not sufficiently politically correct was attacked, banned, and sometimes created risk of torture or death.
