STEM guys as people

This is a weird thing to ask but how do I get along with STEM people?
I'm a lonely autistic guy and I went to study physics to finally connect with insightful and calm people.

It backfired so hard. I've never, ever in my life encountered a group of people so opposite to me and disinclined to see things from my perspective. In every other social community I've made friends, but during my freshman year I didn't make one single friend on campus. Not just that, but I think most of them hate me and think I'm an annoying idiot. I just don't speak the same language as other physics students. The way I see it, they maintain this weird overly formal way of operating and get insulted by things such as humor or "normal" talk. Sometimes the way they speak English is so overly complex I don't even know what the fuck they're on about.

The fact I failed socially in uni is making me consider dropping out. Physics is interesting, but it sounds hard to study it surrounded by brainiacs who think I'm a filthy low IQ normie with no social skills or finesse.
Either I'm the autist, or they are.
