Several decades ago scientists/engineers legitimately believed and put out papers talking about how we would have colonized the moon and that robot maids would serve every house and that everyone would have hover cars and shit. It never happened.
Now, scientists legitimately believe that we're about to unlock a cure for cancer and death and artificial super intelligence and quantum computing and all this other stuff. It wont ever happen.

It's all a bunch of bullshit.
