Demographics divided by bands have different weights for each chunk that you're not taking into consideration, and is why dividing it by age and just taking the unweighted count is retarded, and why most people don't fucking bother outside of dividing by voting age, which is a much broader and only splits it in two chunks, one which is much smaller
