>>11805472, I'm not denying that the Germans were competent and made some good designs. It's the way people fawn over them which gets me going. For example you literally just said 'prototypes for things that would come to shape the modern world'. Name one that had an actual significant impact on the modern world. I almost guarantee that it will actually be traced back to an Allied program rather than a German one.
Jet planes? Modern airplane manufacturers can trace the lineage back to secret allied ww2 programs, not german ones.
TV/Radio? Pre war, nothing to do with Nazis
Computing? All off the back of Allied codebreaking, kept secret for decades afterwards.
WW2 was a fucking tragedy. Lots of people died for nothing.
>>11805485Sucker punches, politics and meth. You can trace a lot of defeats in the West back to the Belgians being absolute cowards, hoping that they could sit it all out by staying neutral. They refused to allow the French to station troops on Belgian soil or coordinate maneuvers before the war, meaning it was a mad scramble once Germany invaded. They didn't have enough anti-tank equipment covering the ardennes and so the Germans got an easy W. If you stop assuming inherent superiority on the part of the Germans and actually do some reading it all gets very interesting, very quickly. German tanks weren't better armoured or armed at the start of the war, they weren't faster or there weren't more of them. They were just better used and poorly defended against. Everyone else was hoping for peace while the Germans prepared for war and they paid the price. Once everyone woke up, the Germans got absolutely fucked from all angles.
