>>11798951That would be my understanding. However producing an oocyte with a males genetic material "may" be easier than you are imagining. The simplest approach I can think of would be to enucleate a preexisting egg, and perform ICSI with 2 sperm from different individuals. This would essentially follow a similar strategy as the "3 parent babies" that made their way through the news cycles a few years back. Additionally, the chance of a YY offspring would only be 1/4, assuming you are making a child from 2 males, no risk if from 2 females or opposite sex (though that kind of defeats the purpose as there are easier options for these pairings). So long as you can prime one of the set of sperm to be "feminized" by specifically removing paternal imprints it should work, though how you would do that is still a bit up in the air (though I have some ideas which involve IVG). A similar method has already been done in mice in the early 2000s (Kaguya), though that was with 2 females which is a much easier to manipulate system. Abnormalities following fertilization can be screened with PGD, but it is not a guarantee that it will be perfect at identifying all potential issues. I hope this answers your question, albeit in a roundabout and longwinded way.
