So the first application is like a tool set. a checklist. a 'Bag 'o Tricks
that's relative to solving a specific problem
there's more general application of knowing multiple models from multiple disciplines, and being able to apply them
of course, some people like them in a trivial sense; They are entertaining, and interesting.
