My undergrad is oxford and I got a 3.0 with a double major in math/physics with advanced courses.

They're not inflated in anything STEM. Business is inflated, hospitality and agriculture and applied economics are inflated. Inflation comes from students purposely taking easier courses to inflate their own gpa. There is heavy deflation in chemistry, physics, biology, etc etc.

For jobs recruiters that are in the know will treat a 3.0 ivy the same as a 3.6 state school, and will treat a 4.0 ivy the same as a 3.6 masters.

For grad school a low GPA will be ignored for ivies if the letters of rec are good.

That's true for state schools too. I had a 3.55 and got accepted to top programs thanks to strong recommendations.

why the fuck isn't 100 the standard grading system in all the world? 1-6 A-F 1-20 don't make any fucking sense. a person who has an average of 100 and a person who has an average of 95 would both be a 4.0 despite the former doing the impossible and latter just being you typical student that studied a bit more than others

probably more than half of the schools in the US inflate grades a fuck ton. of the top 5, Yale and Harvard (especially harvard) inflate ridiculous amounts. straight up may be easier to get a 4.0 as a harvard undergrad than it is to get a 4.0 at a state school
