This is a part of the reason.
Also, there is no one who wants to invest in Nuclear energy, because of backslash. The gov won't do it either because of the propaganda that nuclear = chenobyl / Japan nuclear disaster.

Yeah, 5 kilos of plutonium falling from the sky into the Atlantic Ocean (likely contained inside the RTG itself) is gonna do a ton of damage to the entire east coast of the United States.
