I've been reading about various explosively pumped pulsed power systems, and I was wondering if they have any potential use for a coilgun/railgun. Is there any type that would be more efficient then simply using the explosive itself as a propellant for the projectile? I figure that one advantage would be that you could use this method to drive a tiny projectile at a very high velocity as opposed to a heavier projectile at a comparatively lower velocity like a conventional gun does.
