Tbh I can see why progress in math is so slow when undergrad is oriented *toward* weeding/filtering people (i.e. getting people not to do math) and so strongly oriented toward teaching method rather than proof and application.
And when high school is oriented toward teaching the top or bottom couple of students in a class, or the teacher simply checking out, with no attempt to make the subject meaningful to students.
Our teachers and our professors have failed.
