Is actuarial sciences such as Economics and Statistics legitimate in the word thst it is in fact science?

I ask this because in the case of economics, Economics predict 50000 recessions out of the three that actually do happen and statisticians failed in prediction during the 2016 Election

So at best the mathematical formalisms are used to symbolically illustrate a series of inferences and estimations, causation will never equal correlation, 99% of all asked questions of the field are fundmentally unanserable questions, but its good literature, so we perhaps indulge it more than we should.
