>>11783737>>11784049>>11784045This is the consequence of 24/7, widespread social media usage.
1. Everyone has a constant real time feed of everything that happens in America. American politics tends to be more dramatic and hysterical than other countries' politics, so it makes for good news.
2. Speaking from a British perspective, everything that's American is seen as trendy here. American slang, American streetwear, American rap music, American celebrities. So, too, is American politics. British kids are either Berniedroids, or a smaller minority of edgy kids parrot Trump (we don't really have an equivalent here for alt-right teens to latch on to, Boris is quite moderate despite what the left claims)
3. The British left constantly drums into people here that they HAVE TO care about what's going on in America, because it's apparently of some paramount importance. This seemed to start around 2015ish, with the rise of Trump and with police brutality getting more attention on social media. The British left constantly drives home this message that "America is a fascist state", like some modern day Nazi Germany, and therefore we always have to be #worried and #concerned about what's going on there.
