I feel repugnance every time I have to post something in arXiv. Yet I have to do it. Every time I see the colors that arXiv (I am not sure if unintentionally) uses I cannot avoid thinking about my family who suffered the Holocaust. Why is arXiv using exactly the same colors (red, black and white) as the Nazi flag? Are there not other colors? I would suggest some green instead of red as it is a color related with Africa (which is the place we ultimately come all from) and some yellow instead of white. How is possible that the people working for arXiv never thought about the pain that they are provoking to descendants from victims of the Holocaust when they publicize all over the world the colors of the flag of the nazi Germany? But I feel that it is necessary to push arXiv to change its color because the colors that they are using nowadays are the colors of the people who killed millions of jews. This is something that has to change. Until this is not happening, I will be sad of having to say that Mathematics is still contaminated by the nazism and people too stubborn to figure out that symbols are important when they have represented so much pain, death, discrimination and repression and racism.
My purpose with this post is to force arXiv (with the strength that just all of us together have) to change its colors regarding the fact that they are historically related with the nazi Germany. Other more pacific colors, like those of the LGTBI flag or the green colors associated to Africa, would do the same job much better than the colors of the nazi flag. In addition, arXiv must apologize publicly for using these colors during so many years publicizing thus the nazis among the mathematical community. Even if this was unintentional, a public apology from arXiv is needed and desirable for such a painful mistake to show that racism, fascism and nazism are condemned ideologies that have no point or space in the world of today and of course no more in the rest of the history.
