Of course it is. Pick any other racial group, and imagine how that group would act if a police officer of a different race killed them. Only black people behave this way, and going to the core of it it is because they are ALLOWED to behave this way.
It's like a child throwing tantrums to get what it wants. No one dares to say no to black people, and they know that they will get whatever they ask for. Why do you think that they are doing this? They think we are weak and are taking advantage of it.

I think it's similar to how the science of climate change is so rife with polarizing opinions and fucking cancerous politics (in 11 years we'll need to completely destroy capitalism and resort to eating crickets). They've mutilated and warped the issue so much that no one can have a reasonable discussion anymore. Personally, I'm not qualified to even begin discussing the science, so I basically hope to find resources to help in finding solutions to either outcome (Is climate change happening? To what degree? What options do we have? What is the least shitty way out?).

I am not optimistic about the future and I do not plan on working in academia.

It’s important that we balance the practical effects of research with the social implications.

Sure, engineering, coding and development of new products are important, but the quality of those fields will only improve with diversity as we make an effort to properly balance the ratio of women and pocs.

But, most academia and most research in math and science are so esoteric and abstract that they depend on the people teaching the classes, who are overwhelmingly old and white and mostly male.

Is it really worth supporting a biased and prejudiced system of academia just so some dusty nerd can prove a useless theorem with no applications in the real world outside of his imagination?

As scientists and mathematicians, you should be able to do the value judgement. Continuing to feed into a racist and inequitable system will have little to no benefit to anyone in society besides those privileged nerds who get to work in masturbatory research without doing anything useful, and the social cost of such an oppressive system in the racism and inequality it produces is vast. It’s a simple utility calculation, cost is greater than benefits so we as a society are better off without such investment.

We could stop all new research in abstract mathematics, quantum and astrophysics, and many other fields of science today and it would have no tangible effect on the world at any point in time.

Abstract mathematics and quantum are essential to the development of future tech (which isn't that far into the future), astrophysics may seem unattainable as of now, but will definitely have applications once we want to leave this fucking planet and build our stellar Dyson sphere batteries.

Yeah, it's super difficult to dance around because if you start pressing on their pet term they will turn to pathos and make you look like a monster for insinuating it doesn't exist (or isn't as debilitating as they claim).

In truth, when you consider the body of factually racist policy that actually benefits blacks over other races (affirmative action, diversity hiring, welfare, etc.) once could build a far more objective argument that in 2020 they benefit from racism more than anybody else, and are still shooting and robbing the shit out of each other.

The reason "systemic racism" seems like it can't be dismissed is that it's not a bad argument. It existed not long ago (and that's not even disputable), it's reasonable to conclude it still exists, and it has greater explanatory power (direct chains of causality, as opposed to weak statistical correlations).

It's easy to just say the other side is a group of drooling fanatics who won't listen to reason because it makes them feel bad. This is called "appeal to motive" and is a fallacy. To be sure, it's far easier than admitting that you can't refute their argument.
