So it's the same shit with pigs and dogs, where we allow pigs to be slaughtered because they aren't as cute as dogs and don't elicit the same empathetic response in us, despite being more intelligent than canines.

I can't wait when actual, living breathing humans are killed/opressed in favor of highly advanced computer programs that are able to successfully pass off as actual, sentient people.

Why would you assume an intelligent AI system would bother oppressing something they could eliminate through any number of means?

Once super intelligent AI are around we either survive as pets or we are exterminated as worthless. Or, possibly, we are uplifted by the AI. Perhaps stored as digital consciousness, perhaps through cybernetics.

there has never been a test for humans to begin with. the security flaw is wide open and i have no wish to patch it.

the prospect of being wrong about the consciousness of robots doesn't bother me any more than the prospect of wrongfully attributing consciousness to humans. this is just how i live my life.

I think that a sufficiently advanced clump of matter other than the brain tissue that humans have will be conscious just as much as humans are, but will have a completely different set of qualitative experiences and "inner model" of the world from us. There would be no way to send the experience of one into the other, they're separated forever by the fact that they are constituted by completely different material (say, a silicon chip as opposed to a brain, for example).

How do you know an AI doesn't have qualia? If your mind were to be "uploaded", why wouldn't it have qualia? As insane as this may sound, I think turning off sentient AI may very well by considered murder. But I also think that any society as advanced as that will have to deal with this problem and the only solution is to not care about murder.
