Why call it hyperdrive? You are being too specific. Just call it faster than light travel. Stuff doesn't get named until you are thinking of a specific concept/ theory like the alcubierre drive. If we are ever going to achieve FTL, it will probably through that.

Personally I don't think our species has the capacity for it even if it is possible.

First off, i guarantee you every number system you have ever employed in your day to day life is fantasy physics. Do you claim to have a unified field theory? There is so many holes in the canonical physics that the true, not just 'muh job' scholar aught to grasp the edge of innovation.

First off Hyperdrive physics comprehends the notion that the properties of space itself, has field and viscosity that stretched and compressed.

In attempts to model such things, one must construe the idea of high energy magnetic fields, bending, warping, resonating the fabric of space time itself.

Such experiments lead back to Tesla, who experimentally established the pressence of not just a transverse electro-magnetic wave, but a longitudinal one. Pressure waves in the em field... hmmm...

There could be other spaces like spacetime with different natural laws. You could leave spacetime, move through one of these other spaces, then reenter spacetime somewhere else.

Space drives based off of using spacetime as a form of "reaction mass" are probably possible,akin to having a space propeller that lets you use only electricity to propel a vessel. Taking that to shielding yourself entirely from inertial effects and putting in enough energy to move anywhere near C is very likely impossible

This particular set slides also describe the 'bubble oscillation optimization', which describes how the warping of space can be cheapened by understanding the harmonics of the natural vector field (spacetime maybe?) As a wave machine can create huge waves, spacetime can be reasonated in a wave like fashion (maybe stargate like illustration) to give it the desired warp

It's already being experimented with-whether you could actually scale it up to "speeds" higher than c is hotly debated but not all that important-even if quantum feedback made that unworkable youstill have a tool that could make solar system exploration downright easy.

But the second where the initial event is observed after the secondary event makes sense, if you had a hypothetical ship that could travel at such speed the light from the ship leaving would reach you after the ship arrives because it would outrun it. If you were to see the ship arrive and attempt to arrive at the ship before it left, why would your frame of reference not become identical to that of the travelling ship as you approach its speed and your observation change?
