I tried a bunch of other shit that was all awful too, but finally got prescribed lamotrigine which was 10/10 and stayed on it for a couple years until suddenly got skin reaction out of nowhere and had to stop taking it but my episodes never came back full strength after that so I've been fine without taking anything since then
having to increase dosage slowly over a month or two up to working levels to reduce chance of skin reactions with it is a bit annoying, but it completely resolved emotional instability for me without the deadening effects of other drugs, more like just setting neutral state to emotionless autismo but still leaving the ability to feel emotions when desired intact instead of removing them completely
that said the effectiveness is probably very dependent on your own settis, in my case it was very volatile rapid cycling shit with mostly depressive episodes and only very occasional manic ones, so how well it works for other forms I have no idea
