>>11774853>Why do you guys hate engineers and computer scientists so muchThe hate comes from a lack of understanding of what Computer Science is. And then others jump on the band wagon because it's a meme.
>>11776507This is absolutely some truth in that image.
But it is hypocritical for companies to say that people with a degree in Computer Science, are unemployable, when they ask for degrees in Computer Science when they advertise for jobs.
If you only studied GUI design, Java, shallow hardware, database or networking in your degree, then the people that constructed the course are not doing it right. But suspect this is a lie.
>only people that complain about the hardness...I know the sort of people this guy is talking about, but they usually don't complete the degree.
However out of those that do, the hardness doesn't come from the topics that are introduced, but the number of moving parts in a 5k line program that has been programmed correctly.
CS degrees give you the bare minimum knowledge, it is up to the individual to expand it during or later.
It's different to say EE or CE, where you are trying to qualify as an engineer and you have to know everything there is to know about that topic before you start your job.
Absolutely, someone from EE Or CE could learn all there is to know about CS in a week to a month, and it would be harder to do the reverse CS->CE or EE.
But what's the point? Wouldn't they much rather design electronics and write their own code for it as opposed to solving problems using computation, abstractly?
You can be knowledgeable in many things, but time only allows you to focus on one or maybe two for a career.
Mathematics is really useful to have for doing computations, but as a mathematician, do you want to sit around 8 hours a day writing code for the same problem? or quickly move form problem to problem once you have your proof?
EE undergrads are some of the most arrogant people I have met.
Grads seem to be okay for some reason.
